In this unit, students will complete an internship with a host organisation that is relevant to their academic studies. They will undertake meaningful work that will enable them to apply Aviation-related disciplinary knowledge and skills. The opportunity will enable students to develop their professional capabilities and enhance their familiarity with working environments. Critical to the success in this unit is for students to produce a portfolio against CLOs, any previous learning from other units and integrate them with real-world experience. Students must complete a minimum of 360 hours of work with a host organisation. The students themselves will secure internships to meet the CLO. Any opportunities secured by students will be vetted to ensure they provide a suitable learning experience. Terms of payment, if any, will be negotiated on an individual basis. As this unit focuses on the personal and professional development of the individual, no Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered for this unit. The WIL component will be supplemented with weekly seminars and a mentorship by one of the Aviation academics.
Students are required to complete 120 credit points before enrolling in this unit.
In this unit, students will be developing the following capabilities:
All learning experiences are delivered online and attendance at scheduled virtual classes is expected.
On-campus attendance at scheduled classes is expected.
This is an Assessment Unit. Assessment Units are where students integrate, apply and demonstrate their learning from Learning Units.
Online lectures and mentorship by Aviation academics. Students will spend the remaining time embedded in an organisation as part of their WIL experience.
