Professor Lohmann’s journey is marked by an interdisciplinary approach, global perspectives, and diverse experiences. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Transport Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His academic pursuits continued with a PhD in Commerce at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Currently, he is a Professor of Aviation at Edith Cowan University in Perth. Professor Lohmann’s academic work is grounded in creating meaningful collaborations with stakeholders in the aviation and visitor economy sectors. Over the years, he has secured numerous research grants and leading consultancy projects with Australian airports such as Brisbane, Adelaide, and Gold Coast, Swissport, Acciona Infrastructure Australia, and tourism organisations. Professor Lohmann’s research interests span aviation leadership and governance, air transport management and economics, and the interaction between aviation and the visitor economy. His research income has exceeded $1.5 million, with nearly 6,000 citations and an h-index of 39 across over 200 publications. Professor Lohmann has had significant leadership roles, including Head of Aviation, Head and Deputy Head of Learning and Teaching in Engineering, and Director International. He also led the Future of Aviation cluster at the Griffith Institute for Tourism, consistently ranked among the top 5 globally. Professor Lohmann is a TEQSA external expert, a panel expert for DHERST in PNG, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Research areas and interests
