Advanced Manufacturing Hub

The ECU Advanced Manufacturing Hub is one of Western Australia’s leading facilities in 3D printing technologies and advanced additive manufacturing.

With state-of-the-art equipment, including Western Australia’s only GE Additive Concept Laser SLM Metal 3D printer, generously provided through a sponsorship agreement with South32 Worsley Alumina, ECU’s research and engineering expertise can deliver innovative solutions to tackle the pressing challenges facing industry today and into the future.

In a rapidly changing world, the importance of fast, high-performing and locally produced manufacturing solutions has never been greater.

In partnership with leading suppliers of 3D printing technologies, Konica Minolta / Markforged, and with a global network and future-focus, the Advanced Manufacturing Hub supports the Western Australian manufacturing industry, boosting local supply, skills and experience for a thriving industry.

Housing a large range of 3D printing capabilities in a wide variety of materials from plastics to metals (including stainless steels, tool steels, copper and titanium), the lab also offers 3D scanning and visualisation, and advanced digital design and optimisation, enabling cutting-edge prototyping and manufacturing solutions to be explored and applied.

Project incubator

From small projects through to complex manufacturing challenges, next-generation technologies and transformative solutions can be realised through ECU’s world-leading researchers and facilities.

Outstanding industry partnership opportunities offer tangible benefits, including direct links to the future engineering and innovation workforce while delivering real-world learning outcomes for students.
