Description

This unit focuses on building ethical awareness in an increasingly complex and global environment. Students will develop and evaluate individual perspectives in terms of values and risks, and will explore organisational factors such as corporate social responsibility, sustainability, governance and citizenship in local and international contexts. The ultimate aim is for students to build and develop individual conscience in modern business decision-making and practices.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse influences on sustainable business decisions (e.g. ethics, corporate social responsibility, risk, volatility and governance).
  2. Apply responsible decision-making.
  3. Display sound analytical skills (e.g. information processing, complex problem solving and decision-making).
  4. Evaluate and apply critical integration skills to different contexts.

Students will engage in learning experiences through ECU Blackboard as well as additional ECU learning technologies.

Additional Learning Experience Information

In on-campus mode, the unit will make use of a mixed-mode approach to delivery; that is, a mixture of face-to-face sessions, on-line readings and activities, and self-paced work. The content will include knowledge, skill building and the application of learnings by way of discussion of critical current local and global issues, case study and investigative work.

In off-campus mode, the unit will be interactive as there will be requirements for active contribution to discussion board activities.

Additional Learning Experience Information

This Unit will be delivered using a variety of learning approaches, integrating face-to-face and digital learning experiences. Students will be required to access and use a variety of learning materials to prepare for and engage in class and online discussion and activities.

The teaching approach has a strong emphasis on experiential learning, particularly the discussion of unit ideas and activities; and how these relate to your own experiences and interests.

On-campus classes involve lectures, discussions, individual and group activities. Online learning incorporates these aspects but in a virtual environment.
