ECU recruits the 'Perfect' talent to headline Aluminate 2024

'Aluminate – Celebrating a Night of Stars' is set to be one of the most entertaining events on the ECU calendar in 2024.

This year's new look Alumni Awards sees the recruitment of the perfect headline act, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) alumnus, Eddie Perfect.

Eddie is recognised as one of Australia's most diverse and prolific entertainers. His most recent role as Composer of Beetlejuice The Musical on Broadway, won him a nomination for Best Original Score at the 2019 Tony Awards.

Educated at St Bede's College, in Mentone, Victoria, Eddie undertook a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at WAAPA, graduating in 2001.

His expansive endeavours over more than two decades span from stand-up comedy to music theatre composition, book writing, playwrighting, screenwriting, classical music, jazz and acting for both stage and screen.

The list of gongs for his work both as a performer and writer have also seen Eddie collaborate with the likes of Baz Luhrmann and Global Creatures, responsible for Strictly Ballroom the Musical, King Kong Alive on Broadway.

Eddie's television roles include Mick in Ten's Offspring, a presenter on Play School, host of The Crack Up for ABC Mental Health Week, as well as Kath and Kim, Stingers, MDA, Spicks and Specks and as a judge on Australia's Got Talent. He is currently starring in Gristmill’s isolation rom-com web series Love in Lockdown, which can be viewed on YouTube.

A Night of Stars in Perth

Eddie will be Keynote Speaker at this year's Aluminate, which will be held on 6 November 2024, at The Westin Perth. Sharing highlights from his career journey and reflecting on the importance of human creativity in our ever-digitalising world.

He will also take to his piano for a special solo performance, as well as an ensemble with a talented troupe of first year WAAPA students and PROOF The Band.

Showcasing even more of ECU's Alumni talent, Broadcasting graduate and former 7 News Reporter, Rebecca Marsh will be the evening's host.

Celebrating extraordinary talent

Each year the ECU Alumni Awards recognise the graduates doing extraordinary things, either in their career, in the community or through their personal achievements.

Encompassing four categories, which are the Young Alumni Award, International Alumni Award, Community and Impact Award and Distinguished Alumni Award.
