Two countries, two degrees, one subject

If you're thinking about university study and the idea of spending time overseas sounds appealing, this might just be the ticket. You'll even graduate in less time.

Thanks to a partnership between the University of Portsmouth in the UK and ECU in Australia, you can start a course in one country and travel to another for a year of study before completing the course back home.

And you'll pick up a unique international dual degree!

The two universities have drawn on their individual strengths to create some unique courses, and more courses are planned over time as the partnership evolves.

Apart from a chance to expand your life experience and travel and live overseas, you'll also be awarded two separate degrees in a shorter time than it would take for you to complete the two degrees consecutively.

As Chris Chang, the University of Portsmouth's Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life) says:

Having a dual award from the UK and Australia could be an attractive proposition for some of our students and provide them with the opportunity to develop a global experience as part of their degree.

How does it work?

As an ECU student, you complete the first two years of your course in Perth – before spending a further year on an international exchange at the University of Portsmouth in the UK.

You'll continue paying course fees to ECU in Australian dollars in this third year, not in UK pounds.

If your course is longer than three years, the rest of the course will be completed at ECU.

When you graduate, you'll have two degrees – one from each university!

What courses are available?

There are seven courses being offered for study in 2024:

  • Bachelor of Environmental Science
  • Bachelor of Science (Cybercrime, Security and Intelligence)
  • Bachelor of Science (International Exercise and Sports Science)
  • Bachelor of Global Media and Communication
  • Bachelor of Global Sport Business Management (International)
  • Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Bioscience)
  • Bachelor of Psychological Science

More courses could be added in the future.
