Monday, 27 July 2009

ECU welcomes all new students commencing their studies mid-year and those students returning after the mid-year break.

You may not be aware of the support services that are available to ECU students as part of creating a supportive learning environment. Read on to find out more.

Learning Support

ECU has Learning Centres on each campus staffed by Learning Advisers available to answer your questions about assignments, study, library resources, time management and referencing.

Students can access online resources, make an appointment for a one-on-one consultation or group workshop from the Learning Centre website. Specialised help is also available for mature age students and students with English as a second language.

To make an appointment to see a Learning Adviser at Joondalup or Mount Lawley, phone 9370 6706. For Learning Adviser assistance at the South West Campus, please call 9780 7717.

Counselling Service

ECU offers a professional and confidential counselling service to all students free of charge. Counsellors can provide you with emotional support, and where possible, help you understand your problems and assist you in finding solutions that work.

The Counselling Service is available at all campuses, phone 9370 6706 or email to make an appointment.

The Student Equity and Diversity Officer provides a coordinated service for students with disabilities or medical conditions, permanent or temporary, that may affect students while at university.

The Student Equity and Diversity Officer can assist with:

  • Advice and information
  • Liaison with staff
  • Library services
  • Alternate exam conditions
  • Access to aids and equipment
  • Note-taking and transcription services
  • Interpreting services

Students are encouraged to register with the Equity and Diversity Officer so that any special requirements can be met.
