WAAPA's student ensemble Defying Gravity presents Roots of Rhythm
WAAPA is offering staff and students the chance to win a double pass to the Roots of Rhythm on Saturday, 5 June at the Midland Junction Arts Centre.
A tribute to Latin rhythm and melody, Roots of Rhythm traces the music from its origins of groove in West Africa and combines the sounds of Africa and the Caribbean to create a unique musical experience.
Performed by nationally acclaimed student ensemble Defying Gravity, the performance is a wonderful tribute to Latin music and highlights the wonderful depth of this student ensemble.
“Defying Gravity is nationally recognised as a flagship tertiary percussion ensemble,” said Director of WAAPA, Professor Julie Warn.
“The quality of the musicianship is outstanding and the joyous participation of the students gives every performance a special edge.”
Roots of Rhythm is the first in a series of five performances, as part of the City of Swan Winter Arts Festival.
To be in the running to win one of ten double passes to Roots and Rhythm, email WAAPA’s Marketing Manager, Anton Mazandarani with your name and contact details.
