Edith Cowan University (ECU) is proudly supporting the WA Social Worker of the Year Awards 2011, by sponsoring the Rural and Remote category.
At ECU we see enormous value in increasing the awareness of the social work profession, and recognise the valuable contribution that social workers in regional and remote Western Australia make to the community and to individual lives.
Five categories exist for these Awards:
· Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander Award;
· Agent of Change Award;
· Head, Heart and Hands Award;
· Rising Star Award;
· Remote Award.
Sponsorship of these awards aligns closely with ECU’s Bachelor of Social Work offered at our South West Campus in Bunbury. The course develops students' ability to work within a complex, uncertain and contested social work practice environment by developing their professional competencies.
The Awards will once again be presented to the most exceptional social worker in each of the five Award categories. The most outstanding of these five winners will then be named the WA Social Worker of the Year 2011.
This year the WA Social Worker of the Year Awards is offering prize money exceeding $12,500 to winners, finalists and nominators.
Social workers can be nominated for any award and in multiple categories.
To be nominated a social worker must agree to the conditions of entry and meet the criteria as set out in the particular Award category.
Nominations for the awards close on Monday, 1 August 2011 with the Awards Ceremony taking place on Monday, 7 November 2011.
