ECU has received a five star rating for teaching quality for a record 11 years in a row in the Good Universities Guide 2018.

This makes ECU one of just two public universities – and the only in Western Australia – to have achieved such a consistently high endorsement for teaching quality.

ECU also received five stars for median graduate salary, with ECU graduates employed fulltime earning $60,000 after completing their studies.

In total, ECU received the maximum five star ratings for:

  • Teaching quality
  • Median graduate salary
  • Overall experience
  • Learner engagement
  • Learning resources
  • Student support
  • Skills development.

ECU Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve Chapman welcomed the latest ratings.

“The Good Universities Guide 2018 again shows ECU offers one of the best learning experiences in Australia,” he said.

“While ECU has embarked on an ambitious program to dramatically increase our research output, it has not been at the expense of our focus on teaching.”

“The University is committed to providing a contemporary and supportive learning environment for our more than 27,000 students.”

Examples of this supportive environment include access to learning advisers, flexible study options and ECU’s Careers and Leadership unit, which helps students with mentoring, volunteering and job search.

The University’s teaching facilities are also designed to engage its students. Examples include an immersive, 360 degree video facility to train teachers; a new moot court; SMART Lab with Bloomberg trading terminals; and a $5m arts hub launched in 2016.

In April this year ECU was also named in the Times Higher Education 2017 Young University Rankings, a list of the 200 best universities under 50 years of age.
