Little children's use of technology could have benefits in educational outcomes according to ECU research.

Young children using technology like tablets and educational games could actually be developing quicker than those without according to ECU researcher Dr Donell Holloway.

Dr Holloway's research looks at how kids are using tech and she has some helpful tips for parents using technology with their children.

She says it's important children are active in their use of technology and that parents or older siblings 'co-use' tablets or similar technology with young children.

The research is the first of its kind to actually go into family homes and find out how children and their parents are using games and apps and she says there's no signs of excessive use of technology among young children.
