Why study at ECU?

Your pathway options

An ATAR score isn't the only pathway you need to enter an undergraduate course. For example, you can submit a successful portfolio through our Experience Based Entry or Creative Arts Portfolio Entry pathway. Or complete a bridging course like UniPrep.

UniPrep Summer

This is an intensive university preparation course that runs from November to January.

  • 8-week course with a one-week Christmas break
  • Can be completed in time to start a Bachelor degree in Semester 1 (February)
  • Free to most domestic students

UniPrep Accelerate

This course is only open to Year 12 school leavers with a near-miss ATAR of 55-69.

  • 4-week intensive course in January
  • Can be completed in time to start a Bachelor degree in February
  • Free to most domestic students

UniPrep

Our popular university preparation course that can get you into almost all ECU undergraduate courses.

  • Runs for one full semester (starts in February)
  • Choice of Humanities or Science units
  • Free to most domestic students

Portfolio and Diploma Pathways

Experience Based Entry

This pathway allows you to be considered for entry to an undergraduate course through an assessment of your ability to succeed in higher education. It's based on your portfolio of evidence.

Creative Humanities Pathway

This pathway allows you to be considered for entry to specific undergraduate courses in creative arts and design disciplines without an ATAR. It's based on a digital portfolio of your work, plus an interview.

ECU Experience

Our campuses offer much more than excellent lecture theatres, libraries and cool study spaces. You'll also find a whole range of services to support you through uni, including student accommodation, a medical centre, cafes, gyms and more.

Exercise and Sports Science graduate

From tradie to sports scientist

I didn't know a whole lot coming into this degree as I came from a trades background. I didn't complete ATAR, so my only option was through a portfolio entry. The application process was quite painless and, as I had already completed a Certificate IV, I didn't have to apply for a bridging course and could get straight in.
