ECU's Master of Project Management is offered within the School of Business and Law, so the course has a strong business focus. It is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills of project management principles and practice to design, implement and lead a diverse range of projects in almost any industry.
The course aims to enable you to critically apply theory and principles to practice by examining real world project management cases and examples in a collaborative environment facilitated by academics and industry practitioners. You’ll have the opportunity to research contemporary project management issues and approaches in order to solve complex problems.

Students have the opportunity to specialise in areas such as finance, human resource management, marketing, supply chain and logistics, information systems, business analytics, or cyber security. These specialty streams are at the cutting edge of developments in the sector today. The course will sharpen commercial awareness in project management and develop competencies for analysis, effective decision making, communication and ethical practice.

Students can choose to complete a 20-credit point work placement unit. The 20-credit point work placement option requires students to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of learning in a work setting. Work placement hours are typically completed on a part-time basis and students will undertake projects and tasks that are related to their course learning outcomes. Work placements will be secured through the work-integrated learning team, or as a result of pre-approved networking and contacts developed by the student. Terms of payment, if any, will be negotiated on an individual basis.
Students must complete the relevant risk management documentation prescribed by the work-integrated learning team, in accordance with ECU policy and procedures. Students should be aware of any work-related restrictions in their visa conditions, if applicable. They must also provide any documentation required by their host partner, including police clearances and immunisations. Required documentation is likely to vary across host organisations.
Students are required to attend host organisations to complete their learning in a work setting. Hours will be organised on an individual basis and host organisations may require students to attend after hours and on the weekends. In addition to their time in the work setting, students may be required to attend virtual and/or face-to-face sessions as instructed by the Unit Coordinator.
Students are required to submit a current resume, a statement addressing their suitability and may be required to attend an interview. As this unit focuses on the personal and professional development of the individual, no Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered for this unit.
Students will enrol into BUS6900
Enrolled students will be issued with a guide which outlines the expected code of conduct and responsibilities.

This course allows eligible applicants to fast track their degree through Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning (CRPL), where they have completed a degree in a specified discipline (or with appropriate experience): You may be able to receive CRPL if you have any of the following: - A Bachelor degree, or major, in a related discipline*, or - A Bachelor degree in any discipline, plus two years relevant work experience^, or - A Graduate Certificate of Project Management (or equivalent), or - A current professional certification in project management, such as AIPM-CPPP or PMI- PMP, or - Current registration as a Chartered Project Professional with the Association for Project Management (APM), or - Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent. Depending on the nature of your prior study and experience, you may be able to complete your course in 1.5 years of full-time study (3 years of part-time study) – 180 credit points. *Related discipline refers to any Project Management related discipline. ^Relevant work experience constitutes professional Project Management positions to be approved by the Course Coordinator.
