ECU shines bright and wins big at Australian International Education Conference (AIEC)

Edith Cowan University (ECU) made a bold statement on the global stage last week, captivating over 2,000 delegates at the 2025 Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) - the largest gathering of international education professionals in the country.

Held in a different state each year, AIEC brings together universities, education agents, service providers, and government departments to exchange insights, foster partnerships, and shape the future of global education in Australia. This year, Edith Cowan University (ECU) was proud to be a key sponsor, positioning our University - and the future ECU City Campus - firmly in the international spotlight.

Introducing ECU City to the World

As part of ECU NEXT, a three-year Global Partner Activation Scheme for the launch of City Campus, International Business Operations (IBO) spearheaded a strategic and high-impact presence, centred around an immersive booth experience designed to spark curiosity, drive engagement, and generate conversation about the City Campus ahead of its 2026 launch.

The space featured a large-scale double booth and an adjacent networking lounge, carefully designed to invite conversation and stand out on the exhibition floor.

A key element of the booth design was a creative nod to the iconic Yagan Square Digital Tower - drawing crowds from a distance with its bold architecture. Engaging elements included a live trivia challenge focused on ECU City facts, and a "This or That" swipe game, tailored for education agents about their partner experience with ECU. A once-off 'silent disco', saw 15 VIP guests don headsets to enjoy a musical showcase of ECU City.

These activations were supported by a blend of digital storytelling, creative branding and tactile design features - all working together to make ECU's future campus feel tangible, relevant and exciting.

"Our vision for ECU at AIEC was to deliver an experience that would inspire, delight and invite connection - not just passively promote" ECU's creative lead for the event, Isabelle Lange, Manager of Global Partner Strategy and Performance, said.

"Every design detail was purposeful, with the aim of making ECU City feel real, tangible, and alive in the minds of delegates."

Award Winning Impact

In addition to delivering one of the most talked-about activations on the expo floor, ECU was recognised for two prestigious awards by two major education agent partners:

A new era for international education in the heart of Perth

Marko Remes, Dean, International Business Operations applauded the team's outstanding work, and the impact made at AEIC.

"AIEC 2025 was a resounding success for ECU. We only open ECU City once, and our presence at AEIC sent a clear message to the global education sector: ECU is a premium study destination and an innovative partner of choice," Marko Remes said.
