ECU triumphs at WA Export Awards

Now in its 35th year, the WA Export Awards have been held again to recognise local companies and educators who provide a platform to raise the profile of the State's export industries. ECU took out the top gong in the education and training category.

Edith Cowan University (ECU) has won the 2023 WA Export Award for Education and Training by the State Government.

ECU UNLOCKED is an out-of-the-box agent familiarisation tour initiative, which saw education agents from 30 countries experience a bespoke program showcasing the 'best of the west', and ECU's key selling points in 2022 and 2023.

Dean of International Business Operations, Marko Remes said ECU is committed to cultivating creative and unconventional strategies to shine on a global scale.

"ECU International takes immense pride in the recognition received, underscoring our pioneering approach in advancing internationalisation within the sector," he said.

"Thinking outside the box is our superpower, and the recognition ECU UNLOCKED has received is a testament to our creativity and team spirit."

A dynamic on-campus program was developed in partnership with ECU Schools to present ECU's exceptional facilities and teaching expertise to the international partners.

The program showcased ECU as the top-ranked public university in Australia for undergraduate overall experience, teaching quality, skills development and learning resources (QILT 2021).

An added innovative element of the experience was an interactive mobile-based game 'ECU UNLOCKED: On-campus Challenge'.

The app was developed to allow agents to traverse ECU's campus in small teams, competing for the coveted first place - all the while visiting the university's key features.

Further, ECU UNLOCKED included destination-based activities and experiences created in collaboration with Study Perth.

The feedback from international education agents has been overwhelmingly positive.

"ECU UNLOCKED was an invaluable experience, meticulously crafted, providing an opportunity to connect with ECU staff," Stefan Tapescu from Multipath Expert Agency said.

"It has equipped us with deeper insights and understanding, which will undoubtedly assist in supporting prospective students in their journey to ECU."
