Jessica Gethin inducted into WA Women's Hall of Fame on International Women's Day 2024

Jessica Gethin, ECU Lecturer and Head of Orchestral /Studies and Conducting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts has been inducted into the Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame on International Women's Day 2024.

Jessica Gethin, ECU Lecturer and Head of Orchestral /Studies and Conducting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts has been inducted into the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame on International Women’s Day 2024. This prestigious recognition celebrates Jessica's outstanding contributions to the music industry and her dedication to empowering women in the arts.

Upon receiving the honour, Jessica Gethin expressed her gratitude stating "I am deeply humbled to be inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame. This recognition is not just for me but for everyone who has supported me throughout my career; I hope that the recognition helps to open doors to the next generation of emerging artists".

Jessica Gethin is an award winning conductor and has captivated audiences worldwide with her exceptional musicianship and dynamic performances. Renowned for her repertoire diversity, Jessica effortlessly transitions between symphonic works, opera, ballet, and film scores, earning acclaim as one of the 'Top Twenty Australian Artists of the Year' by Limelight Magazine and a place in the 'Top 100 Women of Influence' by AFR.

Jessica's impact extends beyond her musical prowess; she is a passionate advocate for women in music, serving as Ambassador for Perth Symphony's Women on the Podium initiative. Her leadership both on and off the podium has inspired a new generation of artistic leaders, elevating emerging women artists in her wake.

Recognised for her refined and charismatic performances, Jessica Gethin is committed to nurturing the next generation of artists through her role as an educator and speaker. Her influence is felt not only in Australia but also internationally, with engagements throughout Asia, New Zealand, the United States, and beyond.

Jessica's journey has come full circle, having studied at WAAPA and returning as a lecturer in 2008 before assuming her current role in 2023. Her induction into the Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame is a testament to her exceptional talent, unwavering dedication, and profound impact on the arts community.

Vice-Chancellor of ECU, Professor Steve Chapman CBE, congratulated Jessica on this significant achievement saying "Jessica's induction into the WA Women's Hall of Fame is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. She is a shining example of the impact women can have in the arts and academia."
