Visas & other requirements

Student visas

Before you can apply for your new Student Visa, you must have a valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). ECU will provide you with a CoE once your first semester fees are paid and your OSHC is confirmed, as outlined on your letter of offer.

The Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs will require your CoE when you submit your Student Visa application.

Overseas Student Health Cover

As an international student, you'll need to get health cover before arriving in Australia. This cover is paid at the same time as you pay course fees.

Stay longer after you graduate

In November 2019, Perth received regional status from the Australian Federal Government. For international students, this means you may be eligible to stay in Western Australia for four to six years after completing undergraduate or postgraduate study.

A Post-Study Work Visa gives you the opportunity to gain more work experience in Australia and you could be eligible for skills assessments required for a Skilled Visa application.

How to apply

Before you apply for a course you've chosen, make sure you check the entry requirements, including English competency and your secondary school results. Also check our important dates page to see applications deadlines and orientation and semester start dates.

Most international students can apply directly for entry to an ECU course, but there are special arrangements for students from India, Pakistan, Nepal or a Sub-Saharan Africa country (excluding South Africa) who must apply through an ECU authorised agent.
