Course Structure

Students are required to complete the following four core units (60 credit points):

Students are also required to complete 180 credit points in the form of a 12 unit major from within the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply creative thinking and innovation to generate and evaluate complex ideas and provide sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges.
  2. Demonstrate International and cross-cultural awareness, including Indigenous cultural competence as they relate to visual representation and critical inquiry.
  3. Demonstrate a professional level of written and oral communication skills to synthesise existing research and articulate new creative concepts .
  4. Demonstrate deep theoretical and conceptual knowledge of Visual Art principles and history and their application to contemporary arts.
  5. Demonstrate initiative and judgment in planning, problem solving, and decision making processes to manage the workflow of projects in a professional and ethical manner.
  6. Reflect on and evaluate own understandings of the range of theories, techniques, and strategies relevant to area(s) of specialisation to adapt to the evolving multidisciplinary needs of arts practice.
  7. Work independently and collaboratively to produce creative outcomes and evaluate the critical engagement.
