Distorted Truths by Lea Kannar-Litchenberger is curated by Lisa Sharkey and will be officially opened by Dr Laetitia Wilson.

International, Sydney based artist Kannar-Litchenberger exhibits new works around her time in Antarctica, Galapagos, Lord Howe Island. The film, print, sound, photographic, drawing and installation work create an intersection between our contemporary lives and their global effect. It is not just our impact from a distance that is examined here but our very presence in the eco system. Exploring the role of contemporary society in climate change, the Anthropocene and contemporary consumerism via tourism, its effect on the viewed utopian destination this exhibition continues the discussion and begins a few new ones.

“I hope that by seeing these artworks and installations that people will become more attuned to how their everyday, the crossing of a road, the use of a toothbrush has impact beyond their ideal way of life. That modification of how we live is urgent, whilst many governments stand idly by, it will ultimately be up to the individual to create a wave of change that moves beyond the consumerist world”.
