Login help

Almost all our web systems use a common username and password for authenticating access. This is called your 'ECU Login ID' and 'Password'. It's important to change your password often, and don't write it down, or share it with other students or staff.

I don't know my ECU Login ID and Password

  • New students
    Before you're able to login to the Student Portal you'll need to activate your account via the Central Authentication System web page. After you've completed the activation process it can take up to 15 minutes before your account becomes active.

  • New staff
    Your Login ID and Password are automatically established when you begin employment with us. Normally, details of your account information are given to your line manager. Once you have your details you'll need to contact the IT Service desk to have your password reset.

  • Current students
    Your Login ID is the same login information you use to access SIMO, Blackboard, the e-Lab and Library computers. If it's been some time since your last login you may need to have your password reset as it may have expired.

  • Current staff
    Your login information is retained throughout the course of your employment with us. If it's been some time since your last login you may need to have your password reset as it may have expired.

My password has expired, or I need it reset

If you know what it was before it expired, you can reset your password here. If you can't remember your last password or experience difficulties, see below for further help.

I want to change my password

Under ECU's Password Conditions, your password expires every 90 days, so we advise you to change it regularly. You can change your password easily within the Portal using the 'My Account' feature. You will need to log out of the Portal and re-login for the password change to take effect across our web applications.
