Thursday, 26 May 2011

Mr David Lamb, a senior lecturer in Sport, Events and Recreation Management in the Faculty of Business and Law, has just been nominated as a Regional Councillor for the state of Western Australia for Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA).

PLA is the key professional organisation for members of the sport, recreation and parks management industry in Australia. Membership ranges across staff and managers of parks, gardens, aged hostels, sport, aquatic, rehabilitation, events management and recreation centres; local and state government levels; students from tertiary institutions; academics; and also includes private consultants and private operators of facilities.

In his position as Regional Councillor, Mr Lamb will fully participate in all decision making processes of the Council, ensuring growth of the regional membership. He has also been asked to represent the PLA on a state basis in all matters relating to training of members in management sectors.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as a Regional Councillor for Parks and Leisure Australia, and especially pleased to represent them in regards to the training of other members. With my involvement, I hope I can further unify academia and professional practice,” he said.

Mr Lamb’s current teaching at ECU includes Introduction to Event Management, Event Operations Management, Leisure and Lifestyle, and Leisure Facility Planning.
