Edith Cowan University (ECU) School of Business and Law kicked off a new academic year on a high note with a successful Orientation Week setting the stage for Semester 1. With a series of engaging events tailored for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, the campus buzzed with excitement and anticipation for the semester ahead.

The highlight of the week was the Undergraduate Orientation’s "Battle of the Disciplines," where representatives from each discipline showcased the unique advantages of their respective fields of study. From the Law staff orchestrating a mock court session and poetic musings of the Accounting and Finance team to the Management team delivering an inspiring discourse on the pivotal role of ethical management in shaping the future of humanity, students were treated to a diverse array of presentations aimed at igniting their academic passions. The battle added a fun twist to the week’s events and brought out the lively, competitive spirit of our academics.

The Postgraduate Orientation offered an equally enriching experience for graduate students, equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to navigate their advanced academic journey. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with faculty members, course coordinators, and their peers, as well as learn from the experience of past students through a series of engaging presentations.

Professor Ben Farr-Wharton, Associate Dean of Business Administration  , expressed his delight at the overwhelming response to the O Week  events. "Orientation Week is an important moment for new students as it helps prepare them to embark on their academic journey. We were thrilled to see such enthusiasm from everyone at the events and we are committed to providing all students with a supportive learning environment that nurtures their growth and success"

Beyond the informative sessions, students also enjoyed the chance to socialise and forge new connections over slices of pizza from campus favourite Slice of Italy, and refreshments, reinforcing their sense of belonging within the ECU community.

As the new semester officially starts this week and students settle into their new classes, both staff and students alike look forward to a happy, safe, and productive academic year.
