Student secures work opportunity after Careers Fair

Monday, 14 May 2012

Bachelor of Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations student Crystal Thompson is currently taking advantage of the opportunities she discovered at the recent Faculty of Business and Law Careers Fair.

The Faculty of Business and Law’s Careers Fair is an annual event that brings together organisations from relevant industries on campus, to present opportunities to students.

At the Fair, Crystal met staff from the ‘Alcohol Think Again’ Perth Heat baseball team. They invited her to complete work experience, along with two other university students, as part of the Heat Street Team.

Crystal’s role is to research local events, and to contact organisers to discuss Perth Heat having a presence at these events. She has already worked with organisers from events such as Step Up for MS, Starlight Day, HBF Run for a Reason, and Groovin’ the Moo festival.

After organising Perth Heat’s appearances, Crystal will then attend the events with the other students, to manage the Perth Heat stall.

“It’s a really great way to get experience in events, and also build excellent networks while working,” she said.
