ECU’s Business Edge students recently competed to be named the ‘Best of the Best’ among their peers. The student teams pitched their business ideas during the ‘Best of the Best’ presentations, sponsored by Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), on Wednesday 8 June at the Joondalup Campus.

The teams delivered their analysis and recommendations concerning the working relationship of two individuals placed in a realistic business in front a panel of judges. The panel comprised of:

  • Ben Smith, ECU graduate and 2010 WA Business Icon winner;
  • Nikki Rajakaruna, ECU lecturer and PhD candidate;
  • Omar Saaden, ECU SIFE representative; and
  • Kim Meakins, ECU Business Edge lecturer.

Groups had eight minutes to pitch and present their ideas in front of the panel followed by an opportunity for questions from the judges. Participants were assessed on the content and delivery of their individual presentations.

The Best of the Best title was awarded to ECU student Ava Norris. She was awarded book vouchers to the value of $350 and the title of ‘Best of the Best’ among her Business Edge peers.

Mr Arron Jackson, lecturer from the Faculty of Business and Law, congratulated the students on their achievements.

“Both the academic and commercial standard of the presentations were very high. Judging was close; it is testimony to the talent and skills of ECU students that the panel took some time to decide on a winner. Congratulations to all those involved.”

The Business Edge Team would like to thank SIFE and McGraw-Hill for their work and sponsorship of the event.
