Four ECU Business students recently completed the UniConnect@nab program, shadowing a number of roles in the leading banking and finance organisation over five days. Two of the students have now been offered employment.

The UniConnect@nab program is a joint initiative of nabRetail and Edith Cowan University, connecting ECU students to the corporate banking and finance world with a specially designed program that allows selected students to observe theory being put into practice. Students gain insight into the roles of Customer Adviser, Banking Adviser and Branch Manager.

ECU students Ameetha Alagan, Saradha Ragaven, Chanda Sakulanda and Maheshini Wijeratne have been participating in the program since August. Two of these students were successful in gaining employment as a result of the program, and commenced their new roles at the start of the month.

Ms Janet Simmons, Workplace Opportunities Co-ordinator for the Faculty of Business and Law, hopes that ECU’s partnership with nabRetail will continue to grow.

“The partnership between the Faculty of Business and Law and nabRetail has provided our students with real workplace learning that has led to them making a good impression. So much so, that two students have been offered full time employment. This reinforces the importance of building mutually beneficial partnerships with excellent results for all involved. Congratulations to our successful students,” she said.
