Wanneroo Senior High School graduate, Stefany Renshaw is looking forward to embarking on a degree in Counter Terrorism, Security and Intelligence thanks to an Excellence Scholarship received from ECU.
Open to school leavers who display outstanding academic excellence and endeavour, ECU's academic scholarships are worth $4,000 per academic year and are awarded to students who demonstrate leadership and commitment to ECU's core values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry and personal excellence.
Completing her year 12 exams with an impressive ATAR of 97.65, Stefany hopes to use the scholarship to embark on a career as an intelligence officer with the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), combining her passion for chemistry and science with a willingness to make a difference to the community.
"Growing up I wanted to be a doctor, but I realised early on that I didn’t really like the sight of blood."
"I began to develop an interest in criminology and counter-terrorism after seeing the injustices caused by criminal activity both locally, nationally and internationally and wanted to figure out the background behind criminals, what makes them tick and commit the crimes they do."
Stefany is looking forward to starting a new adventure as she embarks on her studies with ECU at the end of February.
"I'm nervous to leave high school, but am also really excited to face new challenges, meet new people and start my learning journey with ECU."Congratulations Stefany, we look forward to welcoming you to ECU and the School of Computer and Security Science.
