Habitat use, movement and trophic linkages within the shallow coastal waters of Western Australia

Western rock lobsters are abundant on the coastal reefs of lower Western Australia and are therefore likely to play an important role in ecosystem processes. They also form the basis of Australia’s largest single-species fishery. By studying how a range of coastal habitats are used by western rock lobster, either for shelter or as foraging habitat, and the extent of movement between habitats we aim to fill gaps in the knowledge of this important consumer and improve the understanding of coastal ecological processes.
