Keeping Kids on Track (Happy Kids Project)

The Happy Kids Project, established by the Department of Education and Training, has been extended by the Aboriginal Education and Training Directorate to include Aboriginal school aged children.

The Project focuses on establishing and promoting resilience and emotional wellbeing in Aboriginal children and teenagers between Years 6 and 10. The aim of the project is to monitor the cognitive and social emotional wellbeing development of the Aboriginal children as they experience and cope with complex issues during this developmental stage.

The Project involves three components:

  • kids at risk;
  • school based activities; and
  • school expos for the wider school community.

Kurongkurl Katitjin is evaluating the success of the Project.
