Elder-in-Residence

Kurongkurl Katitjin facilitates unique cultural support across the University through our Elder-in-Residence appointed across each of our campuses. They provide high-level Elder advice and support for Aboriginal cultural activities across the University.

Elders bring a wealth of cultural knowledge and experience to our University community that is beyond measure.

ECU's Elder-in-Residence is on campus two days-a-week and is available to meet with staff and students.

However, all meetings are by appointment only.

Dr Roma Yibiyung Winmar is the Edith Cowan University Elder-in-Residence.

Dr Winmar, a respected Noongar elder, is a passionate advocate for Indigenous education, language, arts, and is an accomplished artist in her own rights.

She is dedicated to promoting Noongar language and cultural activities for young and old alike and is available for appointments on Mount Lawley and Joondalup Campuses.
