The School of Business and Law has strong affiliations with a range of professional associations.

AACSB logo

SBL is a member of AACSB International, which is one of the world’s leading business education alliances. It provides quality assurance, professional development services and business education intelligence to over 1,500 member-organisations and more than 800 member-accredited business schools worldwide. AACSB accreditation is an internationally recognised hallmark of quality business education.

The School is reaching the closing stages of the accreditation process with a peer review team visit scheduled in early 2022.

Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand

ECU is an Institutional Member of The Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ). AFAANZ is the premier body representing the interests of accounting and finance academics and other persons interested in accounting and finance education and research in Australia and New Zealand. It's aim is to promote the study of accounting and finance disciplines to members and non members. The Institutional Membership category of AFAANZ aims at acknowledging and reinforcing the connection and support between AFAANZ and Universities. It helps strengthen the research and teaching environment in accounting and finance in our region and ensures the maintenance of excellence in accounting and finance and other business related subjects through teaching and research, the development of academic staff teaching and research profiles, and staff retention in universities throughout Australia and New Zealand. Asian Law Institute

The School of Business and Law, ECU is a member of the Asian Law Institute based at the National University of Singapore, Singapore. The Asian Law Institute (ASLI) was established in 2003 through the efforts of several leading Asian law schools to foster Asian legal scholarship and to facilitate greater interaction amongst legal scholars in Asia as well as legal scholars outside Asia working on Asian law.

ASLI has sixteen founding member schools that are among the very top law schools in Asia. Their representatives sit on the Board of Governors which meets annually. The National University of Singapore (NUS), which led the initiative, continues to provide administrative and financial support for ASLI, including hosting its Secretariat at the NUS Law School.

Australian Hotels Association Western Australia

The School of Business and Law is a member of Australian Hotels Association Western Australia [AHA(WA)]. The AHA(WA) is one of the most respected industry associations in Australia. Founded in 1892, the AHA(WA) represents 80% of Western Australian hotel and hospitality industry and advocates to government, delivers valuable marketing opportunities to suppliers, provides quality training, industry advice, and networking and marketing opportunities.  AHA(WA) is approved by the national regulator ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority).

Australasian Law Academics Association

On 1 July 2019, the Australasian Law Teachers Association (ALTA) was relaunched as the Australasian Law Academics Association (ALAA). The name change reflects the Association’s renewed commitment to representing and supporting all law academics in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Established in 1946 as the Australian Universities Law Schools Association, the Association has for the past 73 years provided a platform for Australasian law teachers and legal scholars to network, collaborate and share expertise, primarily by way of the annual Conference, the Association’s Interest Groups, and the Association’s academic publications including the Legal Education Review, and the Journal of ALAA.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA)

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, part of the Australian Chamber movement, is Australia’s largest and most representative business network. Dedicated to making Western Australia a prime location for living and business, the organization engages stakeholders, conducts economic forecasts, and shapes public policies. They support workforce inclusion, collaborate with diverse entities, assist businesses in international expansion, and foster Aboriginal business growth.

International Association of Law Schools

The School of Business and Law is a member of the International Association of Law Schools (IALS) headquartered at Washington DC, USA.

The IALS is a learned society of more than 160 law schools and departments from over 55 countries representing more than 7,500 law faculty members. One of the primary elements of their mission is the improvement of law schools and conditions of legal education throughout the world by learning from each other.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business

The School of Business and Law is a member of AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB International is a membership association of educational institutions, business, not-for-profit, and government organizations devoted to the advancement of higher education in business.

Tourism Council Western Australia

The School of Business and Law is a member of Tourism Council Western Australia (TCWA). TCWA is the peak body representing tourism businesses, industries and regions in Western Australia. The Council promotes the value of tourism, facilitates sustainable tourism development and advocates industry policy on behalf of members. TCWA directly represents more than 1,500 private and public sector members across the tourism industry, including businesses in the aviation, accommodation, venue, hospitality, tours, attractions and events sectors. The Council is also the peak body for Western Australian regional and industry tourism associations.

Principles for Responsible Management Education

PRME

The School of Business and Law is an advanced signatory to PRME - The Principles for Responsible Management Education. PRME is a United Nations-supported initiative and the largest voluntary engagement platform for academic institutions to transform their teaching, research, and thought leadership in support of universal values of sustainability, responsibility, and ethics.
