The Edith Cowan Athena SWAN Advancement Scheme celebrates the gender diversity of our staff talent at ECU, supporting career progression in the spirit of Australia’s first Pilot of the Athena SWAN Charter. The Pilot is hosted by the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE), an initiative of the Australian Academy of Science in partnership with the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. ECU isproud to be part of the first tranche of the Pilot and are currently working towards a Bronze Level Institutional Award.
The round for 2018 is now complete with information in 2019 to follow in due course. Below are the scheme categories:
To support those with parenting and caring roles, facing career disadvantage as a result of these responsibilities. The subsidy aims to fund travel and carer related expenses that facilitate professional development/ conference attendance.
To improve the gender balance of the STEMM staff profile at ECU by boosting the career progression of academics after breaks due to carer and/ or parental roles through support in work-related science projects and research.
To recognise champions of gender equality at ECU and facilitate staff attendance at Australian based gender equality events.
