Emergency services

  • For life-threatening medical emergencies call 000 for police, fire or ambulance services. You can also call WA Police on 131 444 for a non-emergency call.

  • ECU Out of Hours Crisis Line (for students only): call 1300 583 032 or text 0488 884 232, available from 4:30pm to 8:30am on weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends.
  • Lifeline: call 13 11 14 or visit the website for text or online counselling for support for people experiencing emotional distress.
  • Suicide Call Back Service: call 1300 659 467 or visit the website for online counselling for people affected by suicide.
  • Beyond Blue: call 1300 224 636 or visit the website for online counselling for support related to depression, suicide, anxiety disorders and other related mental illnesses.
  • 1800Respect: call 1800 737 732 or visit the website for support relating to sexual assault, domestic or family violence and abuse.
  • Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MERL): call 1300 555 788 (Metro) or 1800 676 822 (Peel) for assessment, specialist intervention and support for people experiencing a mental health emergency.
  • Healthdirect: call 1800 022 222 for health advice with a registered nurse.
  • RuralLink: call 1800 552 002 for specialist after-hours mental health support for the rural communities of WA.
  • Sane Australia: call 1800 187 263, 10am-10pm AEST as well as online chat, for anyone in Australia affected by complex mental health issues.
  • Kids Helpline: call 1800 55 1800, 24 hour counselling and online chat, for young adults up to age 25.
