ECU UniPrep Schools
UniPrep Schools is a high school-based enabling program that provides a direct pathway to university.
The four-unit course and engagement activities of the program prepare high school students for university and post-school success. Edith Cowan University is committed to helping students from all backgrounds succeed in higher education and lifelong learning.
Program delivery in high schools
The program complements students’ senior school commitments by enhancing academic skills development and integrating university experiences in partnership with Teachers. The program also equips students with transferable career skills to follow their passion at university.
All teaching and learning content, digital learning technologies, and professional development are provided to high schools before the commencement of the program, and ongoing support is offered throughout the teaching year.
Course requirements
The course is delivered during school hours by the selected Teacher/s. High schools create the weekly timetabling of units to meet staffing needs in consultation with the UniPrep Schools Coordinator. Partner high schools follow ECU’s assessment schedule. Students must successfully complete all units to meet UniPrep Schools requirements.
The program can be offered over Year 11 and Year 12. Flexible delivery options are available. Students must meet pre-selection requirements that are stated in the ECU UniPrep Schools Collaboration Agreement.
UniPrep Schools is an academically rigorous program designed to prepare students for university. Some students may not be suitable for this program, ATAR may be a better option or perhaps UniPrep General after completing high school.
Successful course completion
Students who successfully complete ECU UniPrep Schools and achieve the WACE will be eligible to apply for many of ECU’s undergraduate courses (excluding courses with specialist entry requirements). As entrance requirements can change each semester due to availability of places and other factors, students should contact ECU Future Students for further information about applying for a particular undergraduate course at ECU. Entrance into other universities needs to be negotiated with their respective admissions offices.
Engagement activities
Throughout the year, students are invited to attend activities and experiences at any of the ECU campuses. The students can delve into discipline-specific workshops, tour the ECU facilities and engage with ECU Student Ambassadors. They are also introduced to ECU’s extensive learning support services.
