2026 Student Visa Application Fee Offset Bursary

As a result of the student visa application cost increase on July 1, 2024 and further cost increase on July 1, 2025, this bursary is intended to support international non-award students who study at Edith Cowan University for only 1 semester or 1 year in 2026.

At a glance

This scholarship is open to prospective international non-award students (not current ECU Students) who study at Edith Cowan University for only 1 semester or 1 year in 2026.
Eligible non-award students will receive the bursary following the required processes and successful verification.
The bursary is a one-off payment to the value of 50% of the Student Visa Application fee paid by the student in accordance with these terms and conditions outlined below.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this bursary you must:

  • be an international student studying in one of the categories below:
    - Study Abroad (tailored and direct)
    - Student Exchange
    - Joint Master’s
  • be studying a minimum 45 credit points in one of the above categories on-campus for the first time commencing in Semester 1, 2026 or Semester 2, 2026;
  • be able to meet mandatory vaccination and travel requirements set by the Australian and Western Australian Governments;
  • have paid $2,000 to the Australian Government for the Student Visa application, lodged on or after 1 July 2025 (and provide evidence when requested) or;
  • have paid $1,600 to the Australian Government for the Student Visa application, lodged on or after 1 July 2024 (and provide evidence when requested);
  • have had the Student Visa subsequently approved;
  • accept the bursary notification offer within 28 calendar days, for the bursary payment to be made.

How to apply

There is no formal application process.
Eligible non-award students will be identified at week 3 of the teaching period and issued a conditional bursary offer to accept.
Students who have accepted the offer within 28 days will be paid the bursary directly into their nominated Australian bank account after census date following final and successful eligibility verification (past census).
