2025 and 2026 ECU Travel Bursary for Displaced U.S.-Bound Students

This $2,000 bursary supports eligible new international students commencing a full ECU degree in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026, who have been impacted by U.S. student visa processing delays. The bursary is intended to assist with travel and relocation costs and will be paid after census date in the student’s first semester.

The $2,000 ECU Travel Bursary supports new international students who planned to study in the U.S. but were affected by student visa delays. Open to students commencing a full ECU degree in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026, this one-time payment helps with travel and relocation costs and is paid after census date in the student’s first semester. Eligibility conditions apply.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this bursary you must:

  • be an international student (not an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen) on a Subclass 500 International Student Visa;
  • be commencing a full ECU degree (Bachelor, Master by Coursework, Master by Research, or PhD) for the first time in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026;
  • not be in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship for your studies;
  • be enrolled to study on-campus at ECU (Joondalup, Mount Lawley, or ECU City);and
  • provide evidence with your course application of either:
    - a submitted application to a U.S. education institution, or 
    - an offer letter from a U.S. education institution

Terms and conditions

  • The recipient must continue to meet the eligibility guidelines and these terms and conditions at the time of applying and throughout 2025 and 2026 (as applicable).
  • The recipient must be enrolled study a full-time load (60 credit points) each semester in 2025 or 2026 at any ECU onshore campus (Joondalup, Mount Lawley or ECU City) and remain enrolled post census date.
  • This bursary is open to new international students commencing a full ECU degree (Bachelor, Master by Coursework, Master by Research or PhD) for the first time in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026.
  • ECU may, in its absolute discretion, cancel the bursary if the recipient does not enrol in their units of study or pay their tuition fees by the relevant date(s) published by ECU and pursuant to ECU’s relevant policies.
  • The recipient may become ineligible for the bursary if they receive a government scholarship or industry sponsorship or another grant during the term of the bursary.
  • The recipient must comply with ECU’s statutes, rules, by-laws, policies, procedures, or other similar instruments, and with all applicable visa requirements.
  • The recipient agrees to promptly notify ECU of any change of circumstances that my affect their ongoing eligibility.
  • The bursary includes a one-time $2,000 payment to the recipient’s nominated Australian bank account after the census date of their first semester of study at ECU, provided they remain enrolled full-time and meet all eligibility criteria.
  • The student will be required to reimburse ECU for any unused portion of the bursary, if the student becomes ineligible, or if the bursary is otherwise cancelled in accordance with these terms.
  • The bursary cannot be transferred to any other ECU course, campus or partner, or to another university.
  • The bursary can be revoked if the recipient does not accept their Letter of Offer or enrol in their course by the date specified.
  • The recipient must comply with any applicable visa requirements.
  • The recipient is ineligible if they have received any other bursaries from ECU for their studies.
  • The recipient must pay their tuition fees within the stipulated payment deadlines, failure to do so may negate the bursary.

How to apply

All bursaries are awarded at ECU’s absolute discretion. ECU reserves the right to revoke the bursary at any stage if a student is found to have provided information that is false or misleading, does not meet the bursary eligibility criteria (including ECU’s standard and specific admission requirements), or the recipient does not comply with the conditions of the bursary. In these circumstances, ECU may require any amounts paid to the recipient to be refunded to ECU. ECU reserves the right to decline to award bursaries if, in its opinion, there are no suitable applicants. The number of bursaries to be awarded shall be at ECU’s sole discretion. This bursary may be withdrawn from offering by ECU at any time without notice.
