2027 Africa International Scholarship

At a glance

The ECU Africa International Scholarship is available to eligible international students from selected African countries commencing an eligible CRICOS registered undergraduate or Master by Coursework program at Edith Cowan University in 2027.

Eligible students may receive a 20% tuition fee reduction for the standard duration of an eligible course at ECU.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

• be an international student (not an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen);
• be a citizen of an eligible African country or region;
• commence an eligible CRICOS registered undergraduate or Master by Coursework program at Edith Cowan University in 2027;
• be enrolled in a packaged pathway course with an ECU registered pathway partner leading to an eligible ECU degree in 2027;
• study on campus at ECU Joondalup Campus, ECU City Campus, or ECU South West Campus;
• meet ECU’s admission requirements for the selected course;
• be a full fee-paying non-sponsored student;
• not be a recipient of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship;
• not be in receipt of another ECU scholarship, unless otherwise approved by ECU.

Terms and conditions

Full scholarship terms and conditions
1. The ECU Africa International Scholarship is awarded at the sole discretion of Edith Cowan University.
2. The scholarship is provided as a tuition fee reduction and applies only to tuition fees for an eligible course.
3. The scholarship provides a 20% tuition fee reduction for the standard duration of the eligible course.
4. The scholarship cannot be transferred, refunded, deferred, or exchanged for cash or any other benefit.
5. The scholarship applies only to eligible courses delivered on campus at ECU Joondalup Campus, ECU City Campus, or ECU South West Campus.
6. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another institution or to an ECU delivery location or partner outside Western Australia.
7. The scholarship may be transferred to another eligible ECU course, provided both the original and new course are included in the eligible courses list at the time of transfer.
8. ECU reserves the right to reassess scholarship duration and ongoing eligibility following any approved course transfer.
9. Scholarship recipients must maintain enrolment as an international full fee-paying non-sponsored student for the duration of the scholarship.
10. Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrolment unless otherwise approved by ECU.
11. Scholarship recipients must remain in good academic and financial standing with the University throughout the duration of the scholarship.
12. Tuition fees must be paid by the relevant payment deadlines each study period. Failure to do so may result in the scholarship being withdrawn and tuition fees reverting to the full international student tuition fee rate.
13. Failure to accept the Letter of Offer, enrol, or pay tuition fees by the required deadlines may result in the scholarship being withdrawn.
14. The scholarship may not be deferred to a future intake or calendar year. If the recipient is unable to secure a student visa for the approved intake, the scholarship offer may be withdrawn.
15. Students must comply with all ECU statutes, rules, policies, procedures, and applicable visa requirements.
16. The scholarship may be revoked where a student:

• provides false or misleading information;
• no longer meets the scholarship eligibility requirements;
• breaches scholarship conditions; or
• fails to maintain enrolment in an eligible course.

17. ECU reserves the right to amend, withdraw, or discontinue the scholarship at any time without prior notice.
18. ECU reserves the right not to award scholarships where there are no suitable applicants.
19. Successful applicants will be notified within their Letter of Offer.

How to apply

Eligible applicants are automatically assessed for the ECU Africa International Scholarship at the time of applying for an eligible course at ECU. No separate scholarship application is required.
Successful applicants will receive scholarship details within their Letter of Offer.

How to accept this scholarship
To accept the scholarship, recipients must:

• meet any conditions outlined in the Letter of Offer;
• accept the Letter of Offer by the relevant deadline;
• comply with all applicable admission requirements; and
• pay the required tuition fee deposit and Overseas Student Health Cover (if applicable).
