Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Allied Health Scholarship

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Allied Health Scholarship was established to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying Allied Health within the School of Medical and Health Science. The scholarship is offered to encourage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to pursue and succeed in the demanding field of Allied Health. The scholarship is valued at $10, 000 per year for the duration of their course.

At a glance

The purpose of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Allied Health Scholarship in the School of Medical and Health Sciences is to:

  • Encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders students to pursue a career in the allied health sciences.
  • Provide cost of living relief for students whilst studying.
  • Support students to achieve academic excellence in their chosen field.

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person;
  • be enrolled in an ECU Allied Health Course in the School of Medical and Health Science (undergraduate, honours or postgraduate coursework);
  • not be on red status;
  • not be in receipt of another scholarship valued over $5000

Selection criteria

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee.

Selection will based on:

  • Content of Personal Statement

How to apply

Application is made to d.reid@ecu.edu.au between the application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the following:

  1. Why have you chosen your degree and what will you do after graduation?
  2. How will you use this money and how will this scholarship support your academic and career goals through your study
