This scholarship supports a small living allowance for a Master of Arts (Research) project in organology, with particular emphasis on historic keyboard instruments and their material, cultural, and technological contexts. The project may also engage with issues of conservation, display, and interpretation in contemporary institutional settings. Working closely with one or more instruments from WAAPA’s significant collection, the successful candidate might investigate questions of construction, provenance, restoration, or historical use, contributing to a growing international field at the intersection of musicology, performance, and material culture. We are seeking a self-motivated MA candidate with strong problem-solving abilities and a demonstrated capacity to conduct independent research and experiment with new techniques, under the guidance of a supportive supervision panel.
