The Study Boost Bursary is a financial support initiative designed to help eligible students continue their studies at Edith Cowan University (ECU).
This bursary is funded through Needs-Based Funding provided by the Australian Government and administered by ECU to direct support to students who may benefit from financial assistance during their studies. More information about Needs-Based Funding is available on the Australian Government website.
Our goal is to make a meaningful impact on your student experience. This bursary is intended to support you in achieving your study aspirations.
You cannot apply for this bursary. ECU received needs-based funding from the Government, and students with equity indicators were chosen to receive the Study Boost bursary.
All bursaries are awarded at ECU’s absolute discretion. ECU reserves the right to revoke the bursary at any stage if a student is found to have provided information that is false or misleading, does not meet the bursary eligibility criteria (including ECU’s standard and specific admission requirements), or the recipient does not comply with the conditions of the bursary.
ECU reserves the right to decline to award bursaries if, in its opinion, there are no suitable applicants. The number of bursary to be awarded shall be at ECU’s sole discretion. This bursary may be withdrawn from offering by ECU at any time without notice.

Why did I receive a different amount to other students?
The amount offered may vary between students as the Study Boost Bursary is allocated based on a range of factors, including the funding provided to ECU and eligibility criteria set by the Australian Government.
ECU distributes this funding in a way that aims to support as many eligible students as possible, while also ensuring the bursary has a meaningful impact on those who receive it.
Do I need to repay the bursary?
No – this is a bursary, not a loan.
Can I receive this with other scholarships or bursaries?
Yes. The Study Boost Bursary can be combined with most other ECU scholarships and bursaries.
How do I accept the bursary?
To accept your offer:
Once you have completed these steps, your payment will be processed.
When will I receive the payment?
Please refer to the bursary offer letter that confirms when you will be paid.
We are unable to provide the exact date as these are dependent on a number of factors, but payments will be made as confirmed on the bursary offer.
Does my study load affect my eligibility?
No. As long as you are enrolled in at least one unit of study, you will still receive the Study Boost bursary.
The number of units you are enrolled in does not affect your eligibility or the amount offered, as the bursary is not pro-rated based on study load.
What happens if I defer my studies?
If you defer your studies, you will not be eligible to receive any remaining bursary payments.
What if I don’t want the bursary?
If you choose not to accept the bursary, you can reject or simply ignore the offer. The funding may then be offered to another eligible student.
What if I need more financial support?
