The WA Health Minister’s Our Future, Our Way Scholarship

The WA Health Minister’s ‘Our Future, Our Way’ Scholarship supports the efforts of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student undertaking a health-related degree. Valued at $5,000, the scholarship recognises and assists their pursuit of a future career in the Western Australian health system.

At a glance

The purpose of the WA Health Minister’s ‘Our Future, Our Way’ Scholarship is to:

  • Support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student studying a health-related degree.
  • Provide financial assistance to help complete their studies.
  • Recognise their commitment to a future career in WA’s health system.

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student;
  • Be enrolled full-time in a health-related degree (undergraduate, honours or postgraduate coursework);
  • Have a course progression status of Green;
  • Not be in receipt of another scholarship valued over $5000
  • Reside in WA
  • Agree to participate in publicity activities associated with the WA Health Minister and the Department of Health

Selection criteria

Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee.
Selection will be based on the content of a Personal Statement.

How to apply

Applicants will need to email kkstudentsuccess@ecu.edu.au to submit their Personal Statement.
Applicants will be required to provide a Personal Statement of no more than 500 words addressing the below:

  • Why did you choose to study your discipline and how do you see it contributing to the future of the Western Australian health system?
  • How would this scholarship support your studies, and what do you hope to achieve upon completing your degree?
