Fragmentomic analysis of melanoma and lung cancer cfDNA

Summary of thesis

Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are a standard therapy for unresectable, metastatic melanoma and some NSCLC. However, while many patients respond, there are those who are intrinsically resistant or develop resistance to ICI therapy. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to determine who will benefit from treatment, so that those who will not are placed on alternative therapies. Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional RECIST imaging and contains the unique genetic signature of each patient. In my study, I will be employing novel fragmentomic methodologies of analysing ctDNA to predict response to ICI and to monitor recurrence.
