Stroke Environmental Enrichment

Study focus

The Stroke Environmental Enrichment study aims to evaluate the feasibility and therapeutic effects of environmental enrichment compared to lifestyle guidance, on cognition, activities of daily living and quality of life in young stroke survivors (aged 18-65) at least three months post stroke.

Who can participate?

This study is currently open for volunteers who:

  • Are more than 3 months post stroke
  • Are located anywhere in Australia
  • Between the ages of 18-65
  • Have the capacity to speak reasonable English, understand verbal and written instructions and be able to complete tests and questionnaires without significant assistance
  • Be able to give informed consent to participate in the study in accordance with the ICH GCP guidelines before initiating any study related procedures

What is involved?

Stroke Environmental Enrichment can be completed from home. If you choose to participate, all materials will be delivered to you via mail.

Each participant will be randomly allocated to either the environmental enrichment group or the lifestyle guidance group. The intervention period goes for 12 weeks and involves weekly coaching sessions with a member of the research team.
