Ability WA

Community Counselling Service

Unlock personalised support from our Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy students, guided by specialist Couple and Family Therapy practitioners. Navigate life's challenges confidentially with tailored care. The Community Counselling Service partners with the ECU Psychological Services Centre  for holistic care.

We offer tailored interventions for individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups of all ages. Embracing diversity, we cater to people from all walks of life. Some programs and services we offer include:

  • Individual counselling;
  • Counselling for couples and families;
  • Counselling for children and adolescents;
  • Difficulties through life transitions;
  • Understanding difficult emotional issues;
  • Loneliness and isolation;
  • Grief and loss;
  • Parent-teen conflicts; and,
  • School or friendship related challenges.

Occupational Therapy Clinic for Children

The Paediatric OT Clinic for Children is a free occupational therapy group intervention for children. The program includes weekly sessions during each term in Semester One each year which support children’s development in fine motor, sensory motor, visual perceptual, attention, and emotional regulation. The service aims to improve school participation and performance for children who are in the early years of primary school.

The Ready, Steady, School program is for children in kindergarten and pre-primary, and Ready, Steady, Succeed is for years 1, 2 and 3. Ready, Steady, Focus is aimed at children in years 1 – 3 who would benefit from intervention targeting their attention, focus, and emotional regulation skills.

The OT Clinic for Children operates from the ECU Health Centre Yanchep in Semester One each year (March – June ) and provides training opportunities for ECU’s OT students, supervised by experienced OT professionals.
