ECU is building on our years of experience in delivering integrated, community-based, primary healthcare at the ECU Health Centre Wanneroo, a successful model for partnering with local government, health providers, and community stakeholders to deliver high-quality, affordable, accessible care to previously underserved communities. We’re looking forward to working with community and government stakeholders in developing these much-needed health services in Yanchep, and being a valued community partner for many years into the future.
Key stakeholders in the development stages of the ECU Health Centre Yanchep include:
Yanchep is located within the City of Wanneroo, one of Australia’s fastest-growing local government areas and a designated Strategic Metropolitan Centre under WA State government planning. Eglington, Yanchep and Two Rocks together have an estimated population growth of over 400% between 2024 and 2046 (source: City of Wanneroo: Population Forecast, https://forecast.id.com.au/wanneroo). The City of Wanneroo has long supported ECU’s aim to embed quality health services in the far north metropolitan area, and for the ECU Health Centre Yanchep to be an active supporter. The City of Wanneroo and the ECU Health Centre collaborate on the Library Health and Wellness Workshop Series, as well as other health-related events and services.
Ability WA is one of WA’s most respected providers of disability services and is the largest service based at the ECU Health Centre Yanchep East. ECU and Ability WA have an established relationship, with Ability WA hosting ECU students from a range of disciplines on clinical and work-integrated learning placements. Opportunities for increasing training and research collaborations are being explored at the Yanchep facility.
The School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) operates the ECU Psychological Services Centre (PSC) and Community Counselling Service based at the ECU Health Centre Wanneroo. The Community Counselling Service commenced operating at the ECU Health Centre Yanchep East in March 2025, and the Psychological Services Centre is commencing later in the year. Both services provide affordable, accessible psychology and counselling services to individuals, families, and groups in Yanchep and surrounding areas. Students from the School of Nursing Midwifery and allied health students from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences will undertake clinical placements at health services located at the Yanchep Centre.
