HDR membership at the CPPP

Membership of the Centre for People, Place & Planet (CPPP) offers Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates a supportive and intellectually generous environment where they can develop and strengthen their individual research projects within the scope and values of the CPPP.

The CPPP brings HDR candidates together amidst a shared transdisciplinary culture that values co-design practices, feminist and anti-colonial approaches, place-based research, and meaningful engagement with people, place, and planet. It also offers opportunities to expand individual research horizons and to be supported through a strong collaborative ethos. HDR members take part in international conferences, networking events, workshops, seminars, and social events, and have regular informal opportunities to connect with other students, graduates, and staff.

Being a member of the CPPP supports both academic development and relational belonging, enabling HDR students to situate their work within a vibrant culture of shared learning, care, and transdisciplinary research.

A transdisciplinary community for HDR students

Supervision and projects

Members of the CPPP are interested in supervising graduate research projects that align with one or more of the CPPP's objectives and programs of research to:

  1. co-design research and action with and influenced by Indigenous knowledge holders
  2. transform human-environment relations through place-based, just and collaborative processes.
  3. recognise living systems where there are interdependencies and mutualities
  4. strengthen governance and management for sustainability and ecosocial justice
