Summary of thesis:

Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) are shed from a tumour into the bloodstream. CtDNA as a potential biomarker has enhanced treatment response and monitoring of melanomas. However, there are instances when ctDNA levels are not concordant with tumour burden and fail to provide prognostic information. So, this project aims to assess cell intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may affect ctDNA release utilising BRAF inhibitor-resistant and matched drug-naïve cell lines, in in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. We will evaluate the difference in ctDNA to get insights into the mechanisms of ctDNA release from melanomas.
