Summary of thesis:

It was estimated in 2018 that there were 436,000 people with Alzheimer's disease in Australia, this number could increase to 100 million cases worldwide by 2050 without an effective prevention strategy. Physical activity has been reported as a protective factor for cognitive and brain health in older individuals and those at risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Physical activity has further been reported to differ in its influence dependent on an individual’s genetics. This project will aim to investigate the relationship between genetics and physical activity for the prevention of Dementia and
Alzheimer’s disease.
