The Centre for Precision Health Cancer team featured on Channel 9 news TV on 24 September 2023 with a family impacted by uveal melanoma, a rare form of eye melanoma. Around 150 Australians are diagnosed with uveal melanoma each year, with 50% of cases having the cancer spread to other body parts.

Dr Leslie Beasley reported on the uveal melanoma team's research which is focused on developing a blood test that is a safer diagnostic than an eye tissue biopsy, and could lead to better early detection. Early diagnosis is important as well as determining which patients are at high risk of metastases.
