Your Guide to Access at ECU City

When ECU City opens in 2026, it’ll be your new home in the heart of Perth, and we want you to feel confident getting around. Here’s what you need to know about campus access:

Public Opening Hours

ECU City is open Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm. Outside these hours, swipe card access is required.

Study Spaces

  • Kaarlak, the area that includes the Library and e-labs, is open 24/7 – just swipe in after hours and let Security know on NowForce if you’re studying solo.
  • Most other campus spaces are open from 7am until 10pm, with some restricted areas off-limits.

Teaching & Specialist Spaces

  • General teaching rooms are open during public hours if available.
  • Specialist spaces (like labs or studios) need card access and are only for approved users.

Staying Secure

Security is always on-site and will remove anyone who’s not authorised. The main Yagan Square entrance will be locked outside public access hours and we ask you to use one of the other entrances, using your card to enter and always check who’s coming in behind you. If you don’t think someone should be in the building, contact Security or alert a staff member.

Other Key Access Points

  • End-of-Trip facilities (lockers, bike parking) always need card access.
  • Student access excludes certain restricted staff areas (like staff accommodation and specialist commons).
  • Project rooms don’t need swipe access.

Events and performances will have their own access arrangements, and we’ll share more closer to opening.

ECU City is designed to be open, safe and flexible, giving you the freedom to study, connect and create, with the security you need.
