Edith Cowan University has a long history of exhibiting works from its art collection, utilizing paintings, prints, sculptural installations, ceramics and textiles to tell the story of the campuses within which they are shown.
With the introduction of the new City Campus, our team also has the opportunity to tell the story of the Life Layers throughout the building, by curating the narratives for each layer/ story of the building itself with the help of artworks.
Our team are in the process of assessing and revising what is currently on display across all of our campuses. Some works have been on display for extended periods and have sustained a degree of wear and tear, including dust, and need to be taken down or deinstalled and rested. Our Senior Curator is currently curating a unique selection of artworks for each campus, which supports our staff and students to better understand the space they inhabit whilst working and learning, and to give a sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Due to current resourcing demands and the focus on the closure of the Mount Lawley campus, there has been a temporary pause on new artwork installations across all ECU campuses. This moratorium was intended to ensure our collection continued to be managed responsibly and sustainably during the transition period. We are now coming out of that period of relocation, and the team are preparing to plan for new campus displays in the coming year.
If you are a staff member of ECU, please continue to contact us - using the details below - if you have existing work on display that will be impacted by any upcoming building renovations or refurbishments. Our team will come to collect the work to ensure its safety.
